The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - Switch
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - Switch

In this series, we will be looking at the Bible, the best-selling and most stolen book ever put together. The Bible is a book written by people and inspired by God that leads to Jesus and teaches us to become like Jesus. It tells the story of what God has done, what He is doing, and what He will do to rescue humanity from sin, repair our relationship with Him, and restore the world. But, there’s a problem. The Bible is not the easiest book to read. Partially because it was written by people who lived thousands of years ago and spoke a different language than we do. And partially because the stories and events found within its pages are often messy and sometimes unsettling. Which is why A.A. Milne, the dude who wrote the Winnie the Pooh books, said, “The Old Testament is responsible for more atheism, agnosticism, and disbelief—call it what you will—than any book ever written.” For many people, the Bible has become an obstacle to their faith. Why? Because they can’t reconcile a good God with all the bad things and ugly things found in His Word. But, when we learn to read the Bible wisely, we start to see how God uses all of it, the good, the bad, and the ugly, to tell a beautiful story about His relentless pursuit of broken people. And that’s not just true of the story of the Bible. It’s true of our lives too. We all have gone through good things, we’ve had to put up with bad things, and we’ve suffered ugly things that we wish never happened. But God is so good and so loving that He uses all of it, the good, the bad, and the ugly, to weave a story of grace and redemption in our lives too. That’s what this series is all about. Looking at the weird and wild parts of the Bible to highlight the goodness of God, who is and always will be a master storyteller.

MAIN IDEA: God uses all things, the good, the bad, and the ugly, to tell a better story.

ANCHOR TEXT28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV
